Recently Mary attended the Canberra 2010 Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon at the Australian Institute of Sport, firing the starting gun and being there to congratulate the young people at the finishing line!

“The Kids TRYathlon is in its 12th year, a fantastic event for all young
Australian’s to participate in,” Mary said. “It’s about participation rather than competition, an ideal way for young children to get out and enjoy physical activity. It is great to see 1,200 young people entering in this year’s event!” she added.

The Kids TRYathlon, this year, hoped to break the world record for the largest kids triathlon series on the planet, set by Australia and New Zealand last year.

The ACT Government is proud the ACT holds the title of Australia's' most active state or territory.

Mary observed that the ACT has a high percentage of young people involved in sport and recreation. “I am committed to getting even more Canberrans active and enjoying a healthier lifestyle,” she said.

“My congratulations to those organising this huge event and I look forward to it growing again in 2011. We want our young people to grow up strong and fit, I strongly encourage business to take an interest,” Mary concluded.
