Recently, Mary travelled with her husband to Adelaide to visit her granddaughter, Leah Porter, and her partner, Gavin Bruce, and see her first great grandchild, Ava Louise Bruce, born 1 May this year.
Ava was born 5 lbs 6 ounces and has now graduated from five zero clothes to four zeros!
Sadly, while Mary and Ian were away Ian's father, Douglas De Landelles, became gravely ill.
Douglas, who had severe dementia, had been living in a nursing home in Melbourne and Mary and her husband were fortunately on their way from Adelaide to Melbourne when they received the news.
Mary and Ian were grateful of the opportunity to say goodbye to Douglas before he passed away.
Mary said, "Ian was able to conduct his father's funeral, which was a small family affair but a fitting farewell for a fine man who spent his whole life serving the public and making a difference to others."
Douglas, or Doug as he was known, is survived by his wife, Dot, daughter Bronwyn, son Ian, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
