"Like all parents and grandparents, I am concerned about the health of our young children and since my election to the Legislative Assembly I have lobbied the Government to renew playground equipment in our suburban parks," said Mary Porter at the opening of the new Weetangera playground.

"Providing interesting play equipment is one way we can encourage children to have an active lifestyle, and I am pleased that the Government is investing in additional new playgrounds in John Knight Park at Lake Ginninderra as well as parks in Bruce, Kaleen, Florey, Spence and Macgregor. These new playgrounds are to be completed during the first half of 2008."
