Mary recently joined more than 1,000 motor bike riders at the 32nd annual Motorcycle Riders Association ACT Toy Run, raising an estimated $6,000 in cash and $15,000 worth of toys.

This year’s Toy Run was the largest in many years and the proceeds were donated to the Salvation Army and St John’s Care Christmas appeals.

“From my many years working in the community sector, and now as an MLA, I know the great thing about Canberrans is their generosity of spirit and compassion.

“We are ready to meet the challenge and make sure we are there to support others who may be doing it tough,” Mary said

“Motorcycle riders often get bad press; however, initiatives such as this Christmas Toy Run and the annual Blanket Run speak volumes about the kind of people motorcycle riders are.”

The MRA also use these events to raise motorcycle and road safety awareness in the wider community.
