Welcome to the first edition of the Porter Report post the 2008 election. Thank you to everybody who expressed their support to me during the election.

I was honoured to be able to serve you as a Member for Ginninderra in the last Assembly and obviously happy that you have had the confidence to return me in that role.

Pleasingly, on the back of my continued representations and hard work on your behalf, during the sixth term, I received a significant increase in my personal vote. This was doubly pleasing as both major parties experienced an overall reduction.

My Government did make some very tough decisions, and these, together with other factors, affected the votes of sitting members in particular.

Nonetheless, I am glad to see that Jon Stanhope still attracted a very strong personal vote again achieving more than a quota.

I am looking forward to the next four years as your Member and I have already commenced my regular Mobile Offices. After a break over Christmas and schools holiday period, I will again be back out at local shopping centres.

I know that everybody will be busy thinking about plans for the holiday period, hoping to catch up with family, and or do some travelling, and definitely relaxing. I do hope it's not too early to wish you and your loved ones a happy and safe festive season.

In the meantime, as always, please continue to contact me should you become aware of matters of concern to you or your family, and I shall do my best to assist in whatever way I may be able.
