Mary recently opened an art exhibition by Nicola Crichton-Breen and Sui Jackson at the Q.

Both artists have a long history with Canberra, having completed their studies at the Australian National University School of Art.

Nicola, who is a gifted painter, exhibited works that sought to reveal the beauty of nature through flowers. Her work focused on the special meanings that flowers can have for people.

Sui, who has a talent for working with glass, created an installation of 1000 hand-modified flowers which rested on a bed of crushed bottle-glass.

“It is really great to see artists in our community exhibiting their work and skill. We are very lucky to have such talented and generous artists living in our community.

“It is always a great honour to open exhibitions. The artists put in a tremendous amount of work to make them happen and they are always interesting and thought-provoking,” Mary said.
