Mary Porter opened the latest exhibition by Local award winning indigenous artist Duncan Smith during NAIDOC week last month.
As with an exhibition last year Duncan, a Wiradjuri man, donated all the proceeds from the exhibition to CANTEEN, an organisation that works with young cancer suffers.

The collection Connections uses both contemporary and traditional techniques to depict Duncan’s matrilineal stories, further enriched by his own personal and cultural dialogue.

Not only is Duncan an exceptional artist but also a well known musician and dancer who revels in passing on his culture. Duncan and his 5 children perform throughout the region as the Wiradjuri Echoes as a means of teaching others about their culture.

The 3 eldest children also have their father's artistic abilities and each have works included in the Connections exhibition.

Duncan is currently working on an exhibition for next year titled Spirit of Mother Earth, a series that depicts the Creation Story which features the making of the land by the Rainbow Serpent.
