Mary recently attended the ‘Springtime Magic’ extravaganza, organised by the Bengali Cultural Association (Canberra) Inc. (BCA), at the Gungahlin College Theatre.
BCA is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to create awareness of the Bengali people and their culture in the ACT and region. For over a decade its presence in the ACT has seen it regularly organize events of great significance to both the Bengalis and Indian community in general. This year’s event featured a famous Indian dance troupe ‘Sristi’ from Kolkata, India.
“Canberra is honoured to witness, for the first time, the performance by Sristi which is led so wonderfully by the world famous and talented Bengali actress and artist Indrani Dutta,” Mary said.
Mary extended to Indrani and her dance troupe a very warm welcome to Canberra. “I hope they enjoyed their visit to our national capital, and I know that the Canberra community greatly appreciated their performance.
“I know many hours are spent behind the scenes, by volunteers, to make these events successful and I take this opportunity to recognize them and the organising committee for their hard work,” Mary concluded.
Part of the proceeds from the show went to a charity fund for disadvantaged children.
