Recently Mary joined Andrew Leigh, Member for Fraser, at the Hawker Primary School’s Autumn Fete held early last month where they both assisted with the raffle draw.

The Annual Autumn Fete is run by the Parents and Citizens association, along with assistance from the school, and has helped raise funds in recent years to update computers, build a multi-purpose sports court, establish ICT equipment and contribute to learning materials both in and out of the classroom.

The Fete included a Busker’s Corner, impressive craft and clothing stalls, local chefs cooking at international food stalls and pony rides. The funds raised from this year’s Fete aims to help the school completely resurface the school oval, which has suffered significant damage due to long periods of drought.

“Everybody enjoys a good school fete and Hawker Fete was just that, I was overwhelmed by the participation of teachers, parents and children in raising funds for their local school,” Mary said.

“It is definitely an event every local family should have on their calendar” Mary said.
