Recently Mary attended the Annual General Meeting and 3rd birthday, of the Friends of the Pinnacle (Fotpin), held at the Weetangera Primary School.

The meeting was attended by a special guest speaker- Dr. Jasmine Foxlee– recently appointed Volunteer and Parkcare Coordinator for the ACT Parks & Conservation Service, as well as three new Conservation Committee members- Mark Hallam, Keith Thomas and Denise Hall.

Fotpin, of which Mary has been a long standing member, are volunteers who share a common interest in protecting, enhancing and promoting the ecological values of the Pinnacle Reserve, and encourages participation by all who use and value this Canberra Nature Park.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate all Fotpin volunteers and the committee for the invaluable conservation work they do at the Pinnacle, as well as welcome the committee members” Mary said.

The Pinnacle Nature Reserve is located behind the suburbs of Weetangera and Hawker, and offers magnificent views of the Molonglo Valley and the Brindabella Ranges. The reserve, which was previously an agricultural lease, and had been pasture-improved for production, experienced a weed menace so great that only a few small sections of the reserve contained natural plants. Fotpin’s efforts have changed all that!
