Late last month, Mary launched UnitingCare Kippax’s Christmas appeal, entitled ‘Let’s Give everyone a Christmas’.

UnitingCare Kippax has been providing much needed support to ACT residents for 15 years.

“The support UnitingCare Kippax provides around Christmas is vitally important as it’s a time when families and individuals who are doing it tough often do it tougher.” Mary stated.

“I am informed that over the last three months, UnitingCare Kippax has supported nearly 50% more people than during the same three months last year. That means that there are many families and individuals who are facing this time of year in a more difficult position than before.

“From my many years working in the community sector, and now as an MLA, I know the great thing about Canberrans is their generosity of spirit and compassion,” Mary said. “We are ready to meet the challenge and to make sure we are there to support others.”

Gordon Ramsay, Executive Minister at UnitingCare Kippax, said “We provide hampers, gifts and other support for children, youth and adults. Last Christmas thousands of Canberrans, right across the city, were supported through our services, and the generosity of the people of Canberra is what made that possible.”

“I congratulate Rev Gordon Ramsay and all Kippax UnitingCare staff and volunteers for this great initiative,” Mary concluded.
