Recently Mary attended the official launch of the RSPCA Cup Cake day, this year to be celebrated on the 19th of August.

Cup Cake Day is an initiative to raise awareness, about the work RSPCA does in the community, with domestic animals and wildlife and assist them by raising funds that will be used to combat animal cruelty and improve domestic animal care.

The RSPCA ACT had been serving the Canberra community for many years; caring for Canberra’s surrendered, injured, neglected and abused animals.

“The RSPCA is well-known to thousands of Canberrans through its rescue and shelter of unwanted pets,” Ms Porter said. “My current dog Lola was rescued by the RSPCA as well as my former dog Bindi.

“All of us who own, or have owned, animals understand the special relationship between people and animals and the joy they bring to our lives,” Mary said.

“As you know, the ACT Government is committed to Animal Welfare and continues to work closely with the RSPCA and Domestic Animal Services (DAS) to provide important services for our region,” Mary concluded.

Interested members of the community can register to bake and fundraise for Cupcake Day. Further information on how to register is available on the RSPCA website-
