Recently Mary unveiled a Park Care Noticeboard at Mount Ainslie, to coincide with the celebration of 20 years of Park Care and World Parks Day.

Park Care is a partnership between the ACT Government and community volunteer groups formed to care for our parks and reserves.

The ACT Government has provided each of the twenty Park Care groups a noticeboard in the parks, where they are active, to assist with the promotion of their activities, such as planting days, and to encourage increased participation from the community in their area.

“The ACT Government is committed to protecting and maintaining our parks and nature reserves and works closely with community groups to achieve positive results for the environment. These notice boards are important in encouraging more involvement by the community in their parks, as well as providing valuable information,” Ms Porter said.

This year we were able to celebrate World Parks Day in conjunction with the 20 year anniversary of Park Care.

“I encourage Canberrans to take time out and appreciate the natural beauty outside our backdoors, with more than half of the ACT dedicated to national park and reserves,” She added, “We are fortunate to live in such a great environment.”
