On Sunday 23, February Mary attended the end of season function for Canberra United. The team narrowly missed out on a grand final berth, going down to Brisbane Roar in the semi-final.
During their impressive season, Canberra conceded just 8 goals in 12 regular season games. Defensive players featured prominently in the awards, including American recruit, Kendall Fletcher (pictured above), who won the Players’ player award.
The team finished on top of the table at the end of the season, a result of their hard work on and off the field. The 2014-15 season is shaping up to be a good one as the W-league continues to grow. In the meantime, the Canberra roster has earned a well deserved, albeit short, off-season.
The three players selected for national duties will have the chance to hone their skills at the very highest level and represent Canberra with pride; bringing back valuable international playing experience.
