Through his dedication, professional experience and passion Mr Morison has helped to establish and maintain many successful programs to support people living with a mental illness as well as their families and networks.

Mr Morison was a driving force behind the establishment of the ACT Mental Health Association, served for five years as the President of Canberra Schizophrenia Fellowship and played a leading role in developing “WorkWays” a non profit employment Agency.

Also recognised for their outstanding voluntary service was David Hobson (Sport and Recreation), Michael Blaseotto (Emergency Services), Helen Mobbs (Arts and Heritage), Lius Bonilla (Education, Science and Technology), Jack Cook and Norris O’Leary (Community Service), Jennie Widdowson (Environment), Andrew White (Under Twenty Five) with a special commendation to Ikebal Patel (Community.)

“I established these Awards in 1990 and I’m very proud to see how they have grown,” Mary said. “It is very important that we appropriately recognise the people in our community who contribute so much and help make Canberra such a great community to live.”

Sharon Sobey was awarded the Young Person of the Year Award .
