Mary recently enjoyed lunch with two young Japanese people who visited Australia as part of the Tohoku Youth Program.

The Tohoku Youth Program is an initiative of the ACT Branch of the Australia-Japan Society and has been supported by the Japanese Embassy in assisting young people who suffered loss in the recent tsunami.

“I am very pleased to have met these young people when they visited,” Mary said.

As many people in the Canberra community would be aware, Canberra has a close relation with Japan through the Canberra-Nara Sister City relationship.

“I would congratulate the Australia-Japan Society for organising this great program. It is a great way for us to get to know one another and learn about others cultures,” Mary stated.
