Once again Mary showed her support for the Motorcycle Riders Association Blanket Run by riding with Peter Major and approximately 500 motorcyclists in the MRA annual run from Old Parliament House to Garema Place in Civic.

“The MRA annual Blanket Run has been providing blankets, warm clothing, non-perishable food and money to Canberrans in need for the past 30 years,” Mary said. “Each year the blanket run is held in May, just before the onset of winter in the capital which can impose an additional burden on those who are doing it tough,” she added.

The success of MRA blanket runs is due to responsible and caring motorcyclists in Canberra who come together to participate in the mass motorcycle ride and contribute to such a good cause.

All donations from this year’s event were presented to Canberra Community Care, a not-for-profit organisation that helps those less fortunate in our community.

The MRA holds two such bike runs each year and Mary will join the parade again in December when they ride in the annual Toy Run.

“These twice yearly runs are a symbol of the goodwill that is generated when the community works together,” Mary concluded.
