Hawker retailers and residents first learnt about the Land Development Agency’s intention to sell a portion of the car park following the erection of a for sale sign on the block. Retailers and residents quickly contacted Mary to convey their concerns.

“I visited the Hawker Shops and spoke to many business owners about the sale. I also met with concerned residents. As always, I relayed their concerns to the Chief Minister and am now pleased to report that the Block has been removed from sale and a full master planning process for the entire Hawker precinct will be undertaken” Mary said.

Another outcome has been the proposed review of the consultation process when such suburban blocks being considered for sale by the LDA.

Mary has a long history of taking resident’s views to Ministers and has been recognised for making to more representations to Ministers on behalf of residents than any other Member of the Legislative Assembly.

“Issues relating to housing, urban services, the environment, education and health are continually raised with me. I always relay resident’s concerns to the relevant Minister and work to achieve a positive outcome” Mary stated.
