DIVERGENCE OF ART

From the Porter Report December 2009 - DIVERGENCE OF ART

Recently, Mary had the great pleasure of being able to officially open the St Francis Xavier Art Exhibition, a display of art created by students from years 7-12.

This year’s theme was ‘”Diverge” and there was certainly a large number of works across very divergent genres, from the use of ceramics to
collages, from charcoal to painting. Of course the different themes used across these genres were also divergent in themselves.

“I am delighted to see St Francis Xavier College supporting students with a broad arts curriculum available to students at all levels,” Ms Porter
    commented

The students at St Francis Xavier are well known for their talents in both visual and performing arts, and three students recently had their work shown at a high-profile gallery in Sydney.

Mary commented at the opening about the way Art provides a way for people to express themselves, as well as demonstrating the considerable ability of the students.

“I feel very fortunate, in my role as Member, to have visited the St Francis Xavier College a number of times and thank the school community for making me so welcome every time.”
